[ There's a bit of a yo-yo effect here, John but he wasn't going to complain too much as those flames appeared in John's room and just like that, Caliban was stepping out of him with a little furrowed brow. He was wearing his usual simple black silk shirt that was naturally open, and a pair of loose equally black silk pants. He seemed to have nailed that cult leader hippy look to a T in his time in the city.
He was just going to settle down on the bed and peer over at John. Not quite sure if he should speak with the mood the other was in. Those dark clouds forming in his mind. ]
[ When he sees that familiar flame, he sits up in bed and waits for the demon to come closer like he knows he will. When he does - when he makes the bed creak a little with the way he sits down on it, John reaches out with a hand and wraps his fingers around Caliban's arm.
Tugging him in close, he rests his head against the demon's shoulder and sighs a little, eyes falling shut. ]
[ The demon moves pretty easily when the other tugged him forward and he easily found his place against the bed. His hand easily moves around the other as that head finds his shoulder. The blond demon just tilted his head down to watch John for a moment, that worried edge to his look not fading for the moment.
But he was just going to wave his fingers to make that room a little darker- letting the lights lower as he shook his head at those words.]
Hush. You have nothing to be sorry about.
[ It's not like he could always understand the ways of mortals but he was trying his best here. ]
[ Sometimes he feels as if he'd only really permanently contracted with Caliban because no one else would be able to put up with the insane amount of whiplash he's capable of putting one through. No matter the number of moods he puts Caliban through, he still stays there with him. Always has. Even when he was asked not to.
Settling in close against him, he sighs, letting his eyes open a little as he just lays there with the demon. ]
The longer I'm here, the more I start to care about people and I hate it sometimes.
[ Sleep wasn't something Caliban really needed- but he enjoyed those moments all the same when he shared a bed with John. The weight of him against him, the intimacy of it all. The closeness he didn't really share with many people. No matter how many souls he might have fucked.
It wasn't the same as this.
A hand just brushed down along the back of the other head as he nodded at those words.]
Even I'm not immune to such effects of that, I fear. I should wish to enslave most mortals and yet...
I hadn't really considered it. If I'm being truly honest.
[ He said it simply and truthfully, he'd just been...taking those days as they came. Taking the moments he could with mortals who ached for sin and just...living. ]
My Kingdom is gone, or at best, my life is since Sabrina and her traitorous little friends would have no interest in saving me from such a harsh fate.
[ He mused lightly with a little tilt of his head as he glanced down at John.]
So yes. I suppose...trapped here. Hells, that's depressing when you put it like that.
[ John doesn't know it, but he has a death of his own to go back to should he ever leave here — and at the hands of the very thing that had killed him here as well. Caliban knows what he goes back to... what's happened to him... for John to not know... it might be for the best.
Lifting a hand, he lets his fingers brush along the curve of the demon's neck, watching how they trail down to his shoulder and then along his arm. ]
I don't know what to do here.
[ He says then, softly. ]
I've been here for over two years now and I still don't know. [ A realization settling in the closer his birthday gets. ] People just get jobs, own businesses, host parties, get married and shit. I just don't... know where I fit in with all that. I still don't.
[ Caliban seemed to be lost in his own thoughts for a moment before he blinked at John's words, his body leaning into those fingers as they teased down along his arm for a moment.
Still, those soft words did seem to snap him out of it as he turns his head to look at the mutant proper.]
Well, I would offer to marry you again, though I do feel like we've gone down that particular path.
[ He pointed out with that affection running through his voice as he let that light comment play between them before he simply sucked on the inside of his cheek.]
[ He doesn't really know. He's always just been... here. ]
People start things— they start lives here and all and I... I just don't. Even if you asked me how I would or what I'd like to do... the thing is I don't know. I never have. I just always look at it as making it through another day.
[ So maybe it's more he's been surviving than living when it comes to being here, but. That's just his whole life, really. ]
