[ Closing his hand into a fist, he gently baps at his leg over and over again while he looks up to— while he watches Caliban from where he sits. Part of him struggles with the thought that it's Caliban who wants to marry him and not Alec, his first love. That still stings and he'll be glad when he forgets that with his leaving here, but. He still thinks marriage is stupid and knows that it doesn't mean anything here to begin with. Contracts do.
However, Caliban's put up with a lot from him — more than anyone else ever has, he thinks, and so he sighs again as he looks off to the side. Quiet. Contemplating. Forever until the very end, it seems, a complicated fire boy. ]
[ Since there hasn't been a *no* yet, Caliban's just watching John with a tilt of his head. His blond curls fall to one side as he watches John...make up his mind. Honestly, it didn't matter what Caliban ultimately said since really the only person that could make John do anything was...well, John.
The demon sucked on the inside of his cheek at that question before he answered easily enough. ]

An easy and painless ceremony. I use some magic on a ribbon. I tie it around our hands and say some words-

Letting go of another sigh, he cards a set of fingers through his hair and lets his hand fall down there beside him on the couch. Another moment of silence, he looks off to the side before he lets himself look back to Caliban. ]
[ There wasn't any hesitation in Caliban's tone since it was very much what he wished for right now and for the next few hours. If John had any regrets about it after....
well not like it mattered either way. Even he did wish a little more that this was something they both wanted. ]
I wish you to be my husband. My King. My equal in all the ways that matter of Heaven and Earth.
[ John struggles with the idea of marriage. Having found it stupid from his own experiences of seeing how his parents were, to then being rejected by the idea the one time he had maybe wanted it with Alec, it's not anything he's wanted to entertain or deal with again, despite the playful way he'd danced around it a few times with Caliban. Even with the demon being someone who, without a shred of doubt (unlike Alec) wants to be with him in such a way, he still deals with that heartache. With that rejection. Maybe it's just a first love sort of thing. They're said to always remain after all, aren't they?
Regardless, he watches the demon again for a bit before he looks down. ]
Sometimes I think you're more masochistic than sadistic... [ He looks back up to him then. ] ...after all the shit I've put you through.
I know pain, John. And you are far from being able to claim such a lofty title.
[ After all he was a demon who enjoyed hurting people on occasion and besides while John might have hurt him a few times, twisted his heart a few times. It was nothing compared to the idea of losing him in a few days, hours that they had left. ]
And any other day I would seek to remind myself just how sadistic I could be. [ He added with a teasing little glint in his eyes.]
If you truly do not wish this- you can say no. I just would be amiss if I did not express to you what I want from those last moments together.
[ There Caliban goes again with giving him whatever he wants and John can't help but feel some sort of way about that. ]

[ He says then after taking a moment to lick over his lips. ]
I've been selfish in... this whole thing between us from the get-go and I know you like me for being that way... for not being afraid of saying and getting what I want, but. You deserve it, too.
[ Because how could he deny that otherwise? To go to his death without John being connected to him in a way beyond the contracts was important. If only because he ached for it to have some magical significance.]

[ His eyebrows are arching just a touch because John hasn't said the words yet.]
[ Caliban was just going to hold his palm out as a small spark of that familiar fire magic exploded in his hand for a moment before it finally left a deep, almost blood-red metal ring with various demonic-looking runes that could be the royal symbol of hell and the dark golden jewel that had been carved into the shape of a small flame.]
[ Of course he has a ring. In all honesty, he figures Caliban's probably had something for awhile now.
Looking to it, he huffs a laugh and gives a shake of his head, though it's not in disapproval — more in playful disbelief as he sits up a little more there on the couch. ]

[ Well, he has that red leather suit he'd worn to that valentines day party forever ago, but. ]
