[ True to his word, it doesn't take long for him to return... home. That's what this is now, isn't it? Home. Sometimes it's strange for him to consider what with his never staying in one place for too long and yet, when it comes to Duplicity, next month marks a year since he found himself here and that would be what's weighing on his mind.
He's relatively quiet when he returns — when he slips in and toes himself out of his boots, jacket draped over whatever chair is closest. He doesn't bother stopping to his own room to undress or take a minute to unwind. Rather, he goes straight for Caliban's room, pressing into the door frame there with his lighter held in his hand at his side. Clicking as it often does. ]
[ Caliban himself was, as promised, in their bedroom or, well, the bedroom they do share when the other wasn't hidden away in this own room writing or doing whatever it is he did. The demon himself was wearing the silk pj's he often wore, the shirt opens on the robe and the easy, black pants loose around his waist in that most sensual of ways. As if Caliban was ever not sensual.
Though his focus wasn't on that, for a change, his head tilting as he soaked in the sight of John- and the other's general, well vibe. It was a sharp change from the version of John that had found him at the bar and yet not the same as the way the other had been at camp.
There's a soft smile on his lips as he watches the other click that lighter a few times before he was moving across the floor of the bedroom.]
Hey yourself, my pretty fire demon.
[ The pet name eased out of his lips like honey as he gently moved his hand along the other arm as he gave a little nod to the bed. It was tempting to try and fix whatever was brewing inside the other head and the reason he was like this- that normal mental kick of Caliban's to burn down the world just to protect John and make sure they paid for even killing the mood of the other like this. To protect him in a way where he'd failed Sabrina.
But instead, he was just going to try and give John what he needed.
His arms around him. No questions. No comments. Just...well, Caliban showing that he loved John.]
[ It doesn't take much for John to fall into bed with the demon — it never does, really. Yet it's different this time with how heavy his head feels, resting it against the demon royal's chest as he lays there, lighter still clicking. ]
I've almost been here a year.
[ Words he softly mumbles as he watches the way his small flame dances there in the lighter he holds. ]
Am I supposed to call this home? With being here so long?
[ The demon's hand finds the other hair easily enough, his fingers stroking through the other long hair as he holds his tongue for the moment, just letting the other take the time he needs between them- even with that repeated clicking of the others lighter.
His head tilts at those first words- and he understands the others state of mind all the more.]
...Does it feel like home to you?
[ It was a simple question as his fingers tuck a few stray hairs behind the other ear.
For him- John was easily something of a connection here- the demons home in any real way that mattered- it was one the reasons he thought so hard for their contract but he was well aware that there was a difference here. Caliban's home was...well, nothing but that void. John might have had a life back home.]
Or just a temporary stop? I don't think it's something that's so clear-cut, my love.
I've never had a home, so I couldn't tell you what one feels like.
[ A quiet confession he doesn't typically talk about, he gently clicks his lighter over and over, not sparking the flame to life, more just rolling the wheel back and forth just enough to click it. ]
I just don't know if that's what this is here. I don't really know what a lot of anything is here.
I'm a created being- and a demon. Home for me before this wasn't exactly-...it didn't last very long, I suppose.
